This community gathering and action day by House Ball Scotland with Waverley Care and Scottish Trans aims to bring us together in connected healthcare inequality struggles to challenge and change issues together, demystify legislation and advocacy work while grounding us in the lineage of Black, brown, Latinx and Indigenous trans and queer communities' work in HIV and trans healthcare activism, community liberatory practices and mutual aid.
The afternoon will include:
- An opening framing on our interrelated struggles and potentials for collaboration as trans and queer communities through intersecting systems of oppression
- A screening of Waverley Care’s HIV Anti-Stigma Campaign documentary, 'See You, See Me, See Us,' and panel discussion on challenging HIV healthcare barriers faced by BAME/BIPOC communities
- An info session by Scottish Trans on recent and current Scottish Government strategic frameworks for trans and non-binary healthcare, advocacy and actions we can take together to hold government to their commitments
- Participatory workshop for trans and non-binary people inviting contributions to Scottish Trans’ advocacy work, including a closed BIPOC discussion space held by House Ball Scotland (sign up on the day, participants will be paid a £50 participation fee or voucher)
- A closing invitation from House Ball Scotland on liberatory community relationships and mutual aid
