The Vic Café and Bar, Assembly Building, 20 Scott Street, G3 6RJ
Book for free on the GSASA website (or turn up on the day)
All students and recent graduates welcome!! (graduated from any course within the last 3 years)
A workshop in the GSASA Assembly Building to make sure that students are a key part of informing GSA’s Investment Policy Statement. Meet the Investment Managers who manages GSA’s investment portfolio and have your voice heard. Free vegan lunch included too!
“Divestment is simply the opposite of investment – it means getting rid of stocks, bonds or investment funds that are unethical. Fossil fuel companies are some of the wealthiest and most powerful companies on the planet, and they’re using their money, power and influence to block every serious attempt to stop climate change.” – UK Divest
To help you feel prepared to advocate for what you want for ethical investment, join one, or both, of the events that GSASA have organised! We will be hosting two “pre-workshop workshops” to help you feel comfortable talking about ethical investments and gain a deeper understanding of the context at GSA.
“Pre-workshop Workshop” with SOSUK – Wednesday 8th November at 5pm – 6pm, on zoom.
An online, zoom workshop with Ted Tinkler (GSASA President) and Zak Coleman (Invest for Change campaigns manager at SOSUK) on Wednesday 8th November at 5pm – 6pm. [SOSUK support divestment campaigns which aim to stop universities investing in the companies most responsible for driving inequality, injustice and climate breakdown.]
Drop-in for Questions on Divestment – Thursday 9th November at 12noon – 2pm, the Vic, GSASA Assembly Building.
There will also be a drop-in session on Thursday 9th November in the GSASA Assembly Building with Ted – drop in anytime between 11.30 am – 1pm. Come and talk to them about things like “a handy guide key investment and divestment terms”, the GSA divestment context, or even, “what is this workshop all about”?
