Kinecraft Group – Meeting 3: Cameraless film techniques
Monday 17th March: 4-5.30pm
Assembly Hall, 1st Floor, GSASA Building
We will screen Norman McLaren's Pen Point Percussion (1951) to research creating sound and moving images by drawing directly onto 35mm film. Alongside some examples by other artists of cameraless filmmaking dating from 1923 – 2008.
After the screening, we will also discuss ideas from McLaren’s illustrated introduction How to make animated movies without a camera (1949), and Helen Hill’s Recipes for Disaster (2001). From this, we can decide what techniques we are interested in/ what materials we want ahead of the cameraless filmmaking workshop.
(Please note, the screening will have flickering images)
